The same problem many other customers reported: after a few months of use the kettle began leaking - not just a few drops but puddles of water. That is a shame because I liked the kettle before that problem developed. I am throwing it out. I would recommend this kettle only to those who don't mind disposable things.
And I use it a lot. I had and still have this tea kettle since my wedding.Love never had any problems with it. I bought it for all my friends, my mom has 2 of them "for large parties". I cleaned it with vinegar every once in a while. Never had a problem with it smelling bad. I am very sad to say, I need to buy one for my mother in-law(since her cheap one broke) And I Cannot Find One Anywhere even on the Braum web site. :(
We bought this kettle in January of 2008 and it worked great for 10 months. What can I say -- was it worth the $50 investment. And then, it started to leak. Of course, no warranty, no returns. You be the judge. I now have to buy another one.but not Braun.
I can not fathom 1 negative aspect about this kettle. The reviews posted about this kettle influenced my purchase of this kettle. I was so happy with my purchase that I bought a spare & I tell anyone I know who could use one. Normally, the electric kettles I've seen are mostly cheap manufactures but the kettle I bought (this one) was made in the Czech Republic, and this kettle is absolutely wonderful. I use it very frequently because I love tea & make coffee in a French press. Great price, sturdy build, & boils water quickly. Aside from boiling water to make tea & coffee, I also use this to boil water for cleaning purposes.
Now it is only available used or new for double that price. Why isn't this GREAT electric kettle on the market any more. I bought this from Amazon @ $49.99 twice in 2008. What happened to it. Where can I find it reasonably priced now in 2009.
